Philodendron One of the largest genera of the arum family, with several hundred species of mostly climbing aroids from the American tropics. They are among the most popular houseplants in the world thanks to their tolerance of low light and irregular care, with the heartleaf philodendron the classic example. Most prefer bright indirect light and soil that dries slightly between waterings.
